A Host owns a vehicle and offers rides to colleagues. They publish their daily commute and accept people who want to join.
A Buddy looks for rides to join. They browse rides posted by Hosts and request to join ones that match their route.
Good to know: You can be a Host in one ride group and a Buddy in another at the same time! Your role is per-ride, not global.
Zuna is a carpooling app made for IT employees who travel to the same office every day. Instead of everyone driving alone, Zuna helps you share rides with your colleagues — saving money on fuel, reducing traffic, and making your commute more enjoyable.
Travel together with colleagues on a fixed schedule every day.
Fuel and toll costs are shared fairly between everyone in the group.
See where your ride members are in real time on the day of the ride.
Zuna is recurring. Set it up once and the same ride repeats every working day automatically — no need to rebook every morning!
Before you start, here’s what matters most: your safety is the foundation of everything Zuna builds. Zuna is not a public rideshare app — it’s a corporate-focused commute network designed specifically for working professionals sharing the same office route.
Every Zuna account is linked to a real phone number and reviewed by the team. No anonymous profiles, no fake identities.
Zuna is built for IT professionals commuting to the same office. You share rides with colleagues — not random strangers.
All ride members see each other on a live map during the commute. Everyone is always traceable for the duration of the ride.
You ride with the same people every day, not a different stranger each time. Familiarity builds trust naturally over weeks and months.
Women can enable Sister Mode to only join rides hosted by verified female Hosts — an extra layer of choice and safety built into the app.
Any ride member can report inappropriate behavior directly from the app. The Zuna team reviews every report within 24 hours.
Why corporate email? Zuna is designed for working professionals. Corporate email verification helps create a safer and more trusted commute network — so you always know who you’re riding with.
Every person on Zuna has a real name, a profile photo, and a verified phone number. Hosts see exactly who is requesting to join before accepting. Buddies see exactly who is driving before subscribing. Nobody gets in a car with a stranger.
Zuna uses your phone number to log you in — no passwords needed. Every time you log in, a one-time code (OTP) is sent to your phone.
You’ll see the Zuna login screen with a phone number field.
Type your 10-digit Indian mobile number (e.g. 9876543210). No need to add +91.
A 6-digit code will be sent to your phone via SMS within a few seconds.
Type the code from your SMS. It expires in a few minutes so enter it quickly.
First-time users go to profile setup. Returning users land on the Home screen.
Account Blocked? If your account has been suspended, you’ll see a message explaining why. You can type an appeal message (minimum 10 characters) and submit it. The Zuna team will review and respond.
After your first login, Zuna walks you through a quick one-time setup to personalize your account.
Enter your real name — your colleagues will see this in the app.
Tap the date picker and select your birthday.
Select Male or Female. This is used for the Sister Mode safety feature.
Tap the photo area to upload a picture from your gallery. A clear face photo helps your ride-mates recognize you.
Your profile is saved and you move to the next step.
You can update your name, photo, and date of birth anytime from Profile → Edit Profile. Your gender and corporate email are locked after setup. Corporate email verification is how Zuna confirms you’re a working professional — it keeps the community trusted and safe for everyone.
Zuna needs to know where you live and where you work so it can match you with the right rides. You set this once and can update it anytime.
A map opens. Search for your home area by typing the name, or tap on the map to drop a pin at your exact location.
Same process — search or tap to pin your office or the nearest accessible point.
Choose what time you usually leave home in the morning (e.g. 8:30 AM) and leave office in the evening (e.g. 5:30 PM).
Tap the day buttons (Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri, Sat) to mark which days you go to office. At least one day must be selected.
Done! Zuna will now use this to match you with rides or show your ride to others.
Be as accurate as possible when dropping the pin. Your home pin is what other members use to navigate to pick you up. A wrong pin means your driver might go to the wrong street!
To update later, go to Profile → Edit Location.
Updating your location when you have active ride groups — If you are already in a ride group (as a Host or Buddy), changing your location will end all your active ride groups in 3 days. All members are notified automatically. A confirmation dialog will appear before saving — read it carefully. After 3 days, the groups are archived and you re-enter the matching pool with your new location.
Hosts only. This step is for people who want to offer rides in their own car or bike.
To publish a ride, you must have at least one vehicle registered. You can add multiple vehicles — for example, if you sometimes use your car and sometimes your bike.
You’ll see a list of your current vehicles (empty at first).
A form appears at the bottom of the screen.
Tap the toggle to select your vehicle type.
Type your registration plate (e.g. MH12AB1234). It will auto-format to uppercase.
Type the car/bike model name (e.g. “Honda City” or “Royal Enfield”).
Your vehicle is added and ready to use when publishing rides.
To remove a vehicle, swipe it left on the list or tap the delete icon. A confirmation prompt will appear before deletion.
The Home screen is your daily command centre. Every morning, this is where you start.
Hosts only. Publishing a ride means you’re announcing to other Zuna users that you drive from a specific area to office every day, and they can request to join.
This shows your two ride directions — morning (home → office) and evening (office → home).
Choose Morning or Evening. You can publish both if you want.
The app prefills your home & office location and departure time from your profile. Adjust if needed.
Choose the days of the week (Mon–Sat) when this ride is available.
Your ride goes live! Colleagues near your route can now see and request to join.
Starting the schedule — Before the very first ride begins, you need to do a one-time “Start Schedule” step where you pick a meeting point (where buddies gather). After this, rides start automatically every day.
Buddies. This is how you find a ride and request to join someone who drives near you.
This opens the ride discovery screen showing all available rides.
Filter by: All Nearby Morning Evening
You’ll see the Host’s name, route, time, distance from your home, and available days.
Days that match your work schedule are pre-highlighted. Add or remove as needed.
Zuna checks instantly whether the selected days conflict with any existing ride you already have. If no conflict is found, your request is sent to the Host immediately. If a conflict exists, a detailed popup shows exactly which days overlap and which days are free — your request is not sent until you resolve it.
The Host reviews your request. This usually happens within a few hours.
Once accepted, the ride appears in “My Subscriptions” and on Today’s Rides every day.
| Action | When to use |
|---|---|
| ⏸ Pause subscription | Going on vacation but want to keep your spot for when you’re back |
| ▶ Resume subscription | You’re back and want to start riding again |
| 🚪 Leave ride | You permanently want to stop riding with this Host |
| ❌ Cancel request | Withdraw your join request while it’s still pending approval |
| ⌛ Request time change | Your preferred departure time has changed and no longer matches the group |
| 📅 Change days | Your working days have changed — update which days you ride with this Host |
If your work timings change and the ride’s departure time no longer suits you, you can request a time change without leaving the group.
Find the ride you want to adjust. The Change Time chip appears on accepted subscription cards.
A screen opens showing your current time. Select your new preferred departure time and optionally add a note for the Host.
Your card shows ⌛ Time Change Pending. The Host is notified and has 3 days to respond.
The Host can either update the group’s time to match yours, or remove you from the group. You will get a notification either way. If the Host does not respond within 3 days, you are automatically removed.
Sometimes the Host updates the departure time for the whole group. When this happens:
Silence = staying: If the Host changes the time and you do nothing for 24 hours, you are considered happy with the new time. Only tap “Leave Ride” if the new time genuinely doesn’t work for you.
If the Host updates their home or office location, your subscription card shows an orange 📍 Ending Soon badge with the end date. No action is needed from you — the ride ends automatically on that date. Use the time to find a new matching ride.
Hosts only. Go to My Published Rides and tap a ride to open the Manage Ride page.
This option appears once you have at least one accepted buddy.
Pick a convenient spot near your starting area where everyone can gather (e.g. a landmark, gate, or parking lot).
Your schedule is live. From tomorrow, a Today’s Ride will auto-generate every day.
| Action | What it does |
|---|---|
| ⏸ Pause ride | Temporarily stops the ride. Buddies are notified. Resume anytime. |
| ▶ Resume ride | Reactivates a paused ride. Buddies are notified. |
| 🗑 Delete ride | Permanently removes the ride for all. Cannot be undone. |
| 📍 Navigate to buddy | Opens Google Maps to navigate to a buddy’s home (pickup location). |
| 🏁 Navigate to destination | Opens Google Maps to navigate to the office. |
| ⌛ Change ride time | Update the departure time for the whole group. An impact popup shows buddy names before confirming. Buddies get a 24-hour opt-out window. |
| 📅 Change ride days | Update which days the ride runs. An impact popup shows who will be removed or trimmed before confirming. |
If your schedule changes, you can update the departure time for everyone in one tap.
Tap My Published Rides → select the ride.
The button sits next to the current time display on the ride card. A popup opens.
The time picker popup closes and Zuna checks the impact: an Impact Preview popup appears showing the exact names of all buddies who will be notified. Review the list, then tap Apply Change to proceed or Cancel to go back.
Each buddy gets a push notification. They have 24 hours to leave if the new time doesn’t work for them. Those who don’t leave stay automatically.
If your working days change, you can update which days the ride runs. The change takes effect immediately and Zuna handles the cascade automatically.
Tap My Published Rides → select the ride.
A day-selection popup opens with all days available (you can select any combination). The current days are pre-selected.
The popup closes and Zuna checks the downstream impact. An Impact Preview popup appears showing:
Once confirmed, affected buddies receive push notifications. Removed buddies are notified they’ve been taken off the ride; trimmed buddies are notified of their new schedule.
Removal is immediate. Buddies removed due to a days change are notified right away and must find a new ride. Always review the impact popup carefully before tapping Apply Changes.
When a buddy’s schedule changes, they can request a different departure time. You’ll receive a notification and see a ⌛ Wants X AM indicator on their card in Manage Ride.
Tap “Update to [time]” on the buddy’s card. The whole group’s time moves to the new time. Other buddies get a 24-hour opt-out window.
Tap “Remove Buddy”. The buddy is removed from the group and notified. They can find another ride with their preferred time.
3-day response window: If you don’t take action on a buddy’s time change request within 3 days, the buddy is automatically removed from your group and notified.
If all your buddies independently request the same new departure time, Zuna detects this automatically and shows a ⚡ Consensus banner on your Manage Ride page.
Consensus requires all accepted buddies to agree on the same time — not just some of them. If even one buddy has a different preference, normal time mismatch handling applies to them.
Every morning, Zuna automatically creates “Today’s Ride” for you. This is where the actual commute coordination happens — real-time location, check-ins, and communication.
See all ride members on a live map. Locations update every 2 minutes automatically.
Shows exactly how many minutes until the ride departs. Updates every minute.
All participants with their current status — Confirmed, Running Late, Not Going, Absent.
Message everyone in the ride group for that day. Unread count shown on icon.
| Action | What it means | Who |
|---|---|---|
| ✅ Check In | You’re confirmed — you’ll be there on time | Everyone |
| ⏱ Running Late | On the way but delayed — notifies the whole group | Everyone |
| ❌ Not Going Today | Skipping today — notifies so nobody waits for you | Everyone |
| 🚩 Raise Issue | Something went wrong — opens a concern form | Everyone |
| 📍 Navigate to meeting point | Opens Google Maps to the pickup location | Everyone |

| 🚫 Mark Absent | Mark a buddy who didn’t show up (affects payment records) | Host only |
| 🛑 Cancel Ride | Cancel today’s ride entirely — all buddies notified immediately | Host only |
Always tap “Check In” when you’re ready. If you can’t make it, tap “Not Going Today” as early as possible — your ride mates will appreciate the heads up!
After a ride is completed, there’s a 2-hour window where both Host and Buddy can raise a concern. After 2 hours, the ride is marked Settled and no further actions can be taken.
Zuna tracks each person’s shared commute contribution so everyone knows their fair share. You settle directly via UPI — Zuna keeps it transparent so nothing gets forgotten.
Tap the payments icon in the navigation bar.
Enter your UPI address (e.g. yourname@upi). This lets others pay you directly.
Total amount you need to pay to others (e.g. Hosts who drove you).
Total amount others owe you (e.g. Buddies in your ride group).
Tap any person to see a day-by-day payment breakdown with that person.
Partial payments: If you can only pay part of the amount, tap “Mark Partial” and enter how much you’re paying. The remaining amount stays as unpaid.
The Profile screen is your personal control panel. Access it from the bottom navigation bar.
Scroll to the bottom of the Profile page and tap “Logout”. All your data remains saved — just log in again and everything will be there.
Zuna gives you a 1-month free trial when you first sign up. After that, a simple subscription plan keeps your rides running.
You get 30 free days (1 full month) to try everything. A countdown shows how many days remain.
If you joined Zuna early, you may have extended free access as a thank-you.
Your subscription is active. Shows plan type and expiry date.
Your access has lapsed. Rides are paused until you renew.
Or tap the subscription warning banner on your Home screen.
The app shows you the exact UPI ID to pay and the plan price.
Open Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm, or any UPI app and send the exact amount.
Your UPI app gives you a UTR reference number after payment. Paste it into Zuna.
Take a screenshot of the successful payment and upload it in Zuna for verification.
The Zuna team reviews and activates your plan, usually within a few hours.
Renew before expiry! If your plan expires, your rides are automatically paused. Renew at least a day before expiry to avoid any disruption.
Zuna includes a special safety feature for women called Sister Mode. When enabled, it filters your ride search to only show rides hosted by verified female Hosts.
To use Sister Mode you must first get your account verified by uploading a selfie. This confirms you’re a real woman.
Once verified, the Sister Mode toggle appears on your Profile page. Turn it on to only match with verified women.
You’ll see a card saying “Account not verified” if you haven’t done this yet.
This opens the selfie upload screen.
The Zuna team reviews your selfie to verify your identity. Usually takes a few hours.
You’ll get a notification. You can now enable Sister Mode from your Profile.
Sister Mode is completely optional. You can use Zuna normally without it. It’s just an extra layer of safety for women who prefer women-only rides.
Mark your status early — Check In, Running Late, or Not Going. Your ride mates are counting on you.
If you’re running late or need to share something, use the in-app chat on Today’s Ride page.
Pay what you owe at the end of the week. Don’t let amounts pile up.
An inaccurate home pin wastes everyone’s time. Make sure your pin matches your actual pickup spot.
Zuna sends important ride alerts. Make sure app notifications are enabled on your phone.
Live location sharing needs your phone on. Carry a power bank for long commutes.
The Zuna team will review your report within 24 hours.
To keep every commute pleasant and reliable, all Zuna users agree to these simple rules:
Arrive at the meeting point by the scheduled departure time. Others are waiting on you — mark your status early if anything changes.
No smoking inside the vehicle at any time, regardless of whether windows are open.
Respectful behavior is required at all times. Any form of harassment — verbal, physical, or digital — will result in account action.
Don’t make the group wait more than a couple of minutes at the meeting point. If you’re delayed, say so in the ride chat immediately.
Occasionally missing a ride is fine — just mark “Not Going Today”. Repeated unexplained absences may affect your account standing.
Use the in-app chat for last-minute changes. Don’t go silent — a quick message saves everyone unnecessary waiting.
